He was predeceased by: his brother William Downey; and his stepson Michael Avicolli. He is survived by: his wife Linda; his daughter Kathrine Casselman of Charleston, S. C.; his stepchildren, David and Lisa Avicolli (Brian) of Delaware City, DE; and his sister Donna O'Keefe of Bradenton, FL. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson; many nieces and nephews.
