He was predeceased by: his wife Yolanda "Lonnie"; and his sister Grace DeFeo. He is survived by: his children, Carol Orlando-Hayes (Robert), James (Clara), Michael J., Richard J. (Sara) and Rosemarie Susan (Robert); and his close friend Ruth Gordon. He is also survived by his 18 grandchildren; a niece, nephew and his cousins.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia at give2.chop.edu in Gaetano's memory.
