It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Raymond M. Atkinson of Butler, Pennsylvania, born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, who passed away on December 1, 2020, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William E. Atkinson and Bessie Dyke Atkinson Schaming; his wife Edith M. Domhoff Atkinson; and his siblings, Mary Martin, Bill Atkinson, Ralph Atkinson, Paul Schaming and Ed Schaming.
He is survived by: his children, Rose Vaughn (Daniel) of Slippery Rock, PA, Darlene Blinn (Ray) of Lansing, MI, Raymond J. Atkinson (Paula) of Butler, PA and David R. Atkinson (Gwen) of Butler, PA. He is also survived by six grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Due to Covid-19 State Guidelines, visitors are required to supply their own facial covering and to wear it along with maintaining social distancing.
He was a Charter Member of the National World War II Memorial and a Campaign Member of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation and the National Museum of the Marine Corps.
