He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee J. Gates and Emma Gates. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Gates (Fox); his children, Julie Fake of Harrisburg, Michael Gates (Susan) of Lebanon and Diane Poxleitner (Jeremy) of Holly Springs, N. C.; and his grandsons, Alexander and Isaac Poxleitner.
