He was predeceased by: his parents, John Swarner and Anna Swarner (Hoover); his wife Janet A. Swarner (Weary); his daughter Wanda L. Swarner; his grandson Jared Swarner; and his brothers, Robert and Wayne Swarner.

He is survived by: his children, Debi Swarner of Carlisle, Kelly Moyer (Chris), Marlin Swarner, II (Cindy) of Carlisle, Brian Swarner (Cindy) and Mark Swarner (Yvonne) of Carlisle; his grandchildren, Ashleigh Garancheski (Ian), Hannah Eichenberg (Richard), Grace Nixon (Rhett), Faith Swarner, Trevor, Tristan Moyer, Justin (Nikki), Josh (Alli) and Chris Barrick (Noelle); and his siblings, Harold Swarner of Carlisle, Joyce Pittenger (Ed) of Shippensburg and Loretta Runk of Carlisle. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
