It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy Shaffer (Castanea, Pennsylvania), born in Mill Hall, Pennsylvania, who passed away on December 18, 2019, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John McCaslin and Mary Henry McCaslin; her former husband Frederick "Pete" Nestlerode; her husband Gordon R. Shaffer; her children, Larry Nestlerode and Sandra E. Benner; and her siblings, Robert, Charles, Calvin "Goose", John McCaslin, Rebecca Eggler, Hazel Rippey, Mary Gunsallus, Betty Shady, Florence McCaslin, Ruth Myers and June Prough. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the LEO Only Organization created by Craig Polen to help the children of fallen or injured police officers.
