She was predeceased by : her husband Charles E. Merkel; her parents, Claude Nonnemacher and Gertrude Duracinsky (Thomas); and her brother Joseph Duracinsky, Jr.. She is survived by : her sons, Kerry Merkel (Drena), Keith Merkel and Kevin Merkel; her siblings-in-law, Donald (Lorraine Merkel), Barbara Merkel and Grace Duracinsky; and her sister Linda Christman. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great great granddaughters.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. - Catasauqua (234 Walnut St, Catasauqua, PA 18032). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 at 12:00 PM and at 1:00 PM at the same location.
