He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Kurtz and Bessie Speer (Carlson); his wife Donna J. Kurtz (Shaw); his grandson Ian Kurtz; and his sister Janet Green of Bealstown, VA..

He is survived by: his son Randall Kurtz, DC (Barbara) of Clearfield; his grandchildren, Julia Horn, Abigail Billotte (Rob), Emily Bolasky (Scott) and Ryan Kurtz; his son Larry Kurtz (Deby) of Porter, TX; his granddaughter Jessica Helmer (Justin); his son Dennis Kurtz (Peggy Lingle) of Clearfield; and his grandchildren, Stephanie, Christopher and Nathan Kurtz. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.

There will be no public services observed, due to COVID-19 concerns.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the US Navy Memorial Fund, 701 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20004.
