He was predeceased by : his parents, Wilbur Swope and Betty Swope (Smith); and his adoptive parents, Bruce Shaffer and Nellie Shaffer. He is survived by : his children, Donald Raymond Swope, Jr. and Debra Swope (Rick Klahre); his granddaughter Nicole McFarland (Marcus); his sons, Tyler Swope (Sam Kreiner) and Nathan Lynn (Amber Timbrook); his great grandchildren, Savannah, Evelyn, Tucker, Wylder, Nadlyn and Aidan; and his close friends, Chucky Michael and Brett Moninger.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 24th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Adams Family Funeral Home (404 Decatur St, Cumberland, MD 21502). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 24th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
