She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Burgess Shriver and Marie Shriver (Young); her husband Dr. Glenndale Mark DeFoe, Jr.; her daughters, Aimee (David Passmore) and Jennifer (Paul Silver); her grandchildren, Tiernan, Rhiannon, Lukyan and Cora; and her siblings, Burgess Shriver II of Ames, IA and Dr. Susan Barnes (Shriver) of Edmond, Oklahoma..
In early 2025, she was honored as a Music Teachers' National Association Foundation Fellow.
