He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Kurtz and Hilda Kurtz (Frantz); and his siblings, Eleanor Messics, Carl Kurtz, Nancy Rohrbach and Robert Kurtz.

He is survived by: his son David L. Kurtz (Lisa); his grandsons, Ryan and Adam; his daughter Deidra Sentner; his grandchildren, Collin, Karen Doney, Nicholas and Danielle; and his former wife Mary Snyder.
