He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob F. Esh and Rebecca F. Kauffman Esh; his sons, Ivan and Jonathan Esh; his brothers, Reuben and Ben Esh; and his sister-in-law Lavina Esh.
He is survived by: his wife Sara L. Smucker Esh; his children, Reuben S. Esh (Marilyn) of Greeley, KS, Elmer K. Esh (Mary) of Narvon, Daniel L. Esh (Christina) of Ephrata, Barbara S. (Daniel Esh) of Quarryville, Ruth S. (Lloyd Glick) of Gap and Susanne S. (Steven Stoltzfus) of Gap; his siblings, Dan Esh (Ann) of Loganton, Levi (Sylvia) of Mill Hall, Lydia (John Stoltzfus) of Gorodonville, Fannie (John Stoltzfus) of Kirkwood, Lizzie (Gideon Glick) of Leola, Barbara Williamstown (Jonas Stoltzfus) and Mary (Paul King); his sister-in-law Malinda Esh; and his stepsiblings, Jacob and Lydia Speicher. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
