He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Ness and Olive Van Ness (Taylor). He is survived by: his wife Lorraine Van Ness (Skelly); his children, Katherine Van Ness, Kelly Chamberlain and Robert Chamberlain; his granddaughter Olivia Chamberlain; and his sister Valerie Cauley (John).
