He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward and Margaret Whitman, Sr. (Culberson); his wife Ethel (Haney); and his siblings, Fred, Edward, Kenneth, Jay and Edythe Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Lynne Bush of Flemington, NJ, Harry Whitman of Nichols, NY, Patti Marz of Phillipsburg, NJ and Peg Stover (Jim) of Easton. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many many nieces and nephews.
