He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Landis Herr and Florence E. Herr (Grube); his spouse Annabel M. Herr (Singer); his daughter Cynthia "Cindy" A. Zimmerman; his great grandchild Brice Zimmerman; and his sisters, Miriam Mull and Dorothy Dunlinger.
He is survived by: his son William R. Herr; his grandsons, Brent and Blake Zimmerman; his great grandchildren, Luke and Waylon Zimmerman; and his siblings, Erma Zimmerman and Melvin Herr.
