He was predeceased by: his parents, George F. Benson and Rose M. Grisanti Benson. He is survived by: his pet Samson; his wife Laura A. Silverthorn Benson; his siblings-in-law, Kathy Maloney (Ed), Chris Manzo (John) and David Silverthorn (Karen); his cousins, Alicia, James and Joe; and his close friend Carl. He is also survived by niece, nephews.
