He was predeceased by: his parents, Loyd Carpenter and Dorothy Carpenter; his sister Alice Wheatall; and his children, David Carpenter, Patty Preedit and Kathy Kocher.
He is survived by: his significant other Beverly Carpenter; his children, Daniel (Alice), Jeffrey (Elena), Jim Miller (Diane), Sheryl Carpenter (Vicky), Nancy Redinger, Mary Beth Bennett (David) and Christine Markovich (Chuck); and his daughter-in-law Cynthia VanSlyke (Tim). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.
Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery with Full Military Honors.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Department 5310 W. Lake Road, Erie, PA 16505.
