He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas P. Cooney and Margaret Cooney (Smith); his granddaughter Breanna J. Cooney; and his siblings, James, Paul Cooney and Margaret Yost.
He is survived by: his wife Roberta A. Cooney; his children, Jeffrey R. Cooney of Alpharetta, GA, Lynn M. DeVillars (Richard) of Hotchkiss, CO and Kevin M. Cooney (Kelly) of Erie; his grandchildren, Marissa A. Webster (Dan) of Meadville, Maggie M. Cooney of Pittsburgh and Jay M. Cooney of Erie; and his siblings, Patrick Cooney (Bonnie) of Corry, Jack Cooney (Jane) of Erie, Tim Cooney (Charles Smitts) of Lansdale, PA and Carol Yurchak (Basil) of Erie.
