He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul J. McElhinny and Elizabeth Hutchinson McElhinny; and his siblings, Paul R., Samuel, Ronald, Daniel, John McElhinny, Isabelle McElhinny, Nancy Bogan and Zeruiah Moore.

He is survived by: his wife Rebecca E. "Becky" Deener McElhinny; his sons, Eric McElhinny of Evans City and Scott McElhinny of Evans City; and his siblings, Elizabeth "Betsy" Darling, Patrice Hughes (William) and Jerome McElhinny (Marilynn) of Evans City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made in Zeno's honor to the Evans City VFD, 124 N. Jackson St., Evans City, PA 16033, or to the Evans City Food Cupboard, 202 Van Buren St., Evans City, PA 16033.
