He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Wertz and Janet L. Wertz (Miller). He is survived by: his wife Linda L. Wertz (Amick); his sons, Thomas A. Wertz (Tammy) of Schellsburg and Timothy A. Wertz of Schellsburg; his siblings, Janice Ann Heming (Richard) of Bedford, Joan Ellen Black (Clair) of Bedford and James E. Wertz (Patricia) of Bedford; and his grandchildren, Brandy Ringler (Christian), Jessica Wertz (Barry Hillegass) and Jordan Wertz.
