He was predeceased by: his parents, T. Allen Mearkle and Kathleen M. Mearkle (Pennel). He is survived by: his siblings, Haydn R. Mearkle (Bryan Yoder) of Ormond Beach, FL and Charlotte S. (Bill Robinette) of Mount Joy, PA; his niece Charisse M. Pavelik (Robinette) of Mount Joy, PA; and his great-nephews, Mason and Andrew Pavelik.
