He was predeceased by: his parents, James A. Hance Sr. and Dorothy Hance (Dean); his former wife JoAnn Hance (Cook); his sons, William T. Hance and Robert F. "Reds" Hance; and his sister Barbara Hance.
He is survived by: his spouse Sharon A. Hance (Alwine); his children, Jim Hance (Joan), John Hance of Harrisburg, PA, Joe Hance (Donna) of Gaithersburg, MD, Jodi Whalen of Germantown, MD and Jean Marie Havens (Dan); and his sister Patricia Houck of Annapolis, MD. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
