He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Mest and Minnie Mest (Weller); and his children, Debbie, Scott and Troy.
He is survived by: his children, Richard Mest (Christine Mest), Todd Mest (Martha Mest) and Terri Toro; his grandchildren, Shawn Barndt, Matthew Toro, Kelly Mest (Yamara), Kevin Mest (Lauren), Troy Mest and Ashley Mest Kirkpatrick (Joshua); and his great grandchildren, Mason, Logan, Kevin Jr., Noah, Zoe, Theo, Levi and Evi.
