He was predeceased by: his parents, William J. Brandel and Edna Brandel (Long); and his siblings, William J., Joseph J. Brandel, Edna Miller, Mildred Hood, Irene White and Helena Hodaz.
He is survived by: his sons, Richard J. Brandel Jr. (Joan Wolff) and Michael J. Brandel (Anke Christiani); his grandchildren, Richard J. III, Rachel and Renee Brandel; his great grandchild Owen Brandel; and his sister Dorothy Kehler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard's memory to St. Columbkill Church, 200 Indian Spring Rd., Boyertown, PA 19512.
