He was predeceased by: his parent William Gill; and his siblings, Lawrence Gill, Dorothy Billett and Betty Palmer. He is survived by: his parent Katherine Williams Gill; his wife Jessie A. Gill; his son Howard D. Gill, Jr. of Hanover, PA; his children-in-law, Andrea Gill of Hanover, PA, Carolyn L. Love, William Love of Westminster, Barbara A. Weinberg and Irvin Weinberg of Hanover, PA; and his grandchildren, Scott Love (Kelli Love) of Westminster, Lisa M. Zimmerman of Westminster, Melisa Hannon, Heather Petry (Kyle Petry) of Hanover, Jason Weinberg of Hanover and Jonathan Gill (Mindi Gill) of Taneytown.
