He is survived by: his children, James Duncan, Jr., Shamekia Smith-Tucker (Eugene), Camisha Smith of Harrisburg and Abdulus "Butch" Smith of Maryland; and his stepson Johnathan Duncan. He is also survived by grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
