He was predeceased by: his parents, George, Sr. Merkel and Pearl Merkel (Gogel). He is survived by: his wife Charlene A. Merkel (Olesh); his children, Chad E. Merkel of Palmer Twp and Leanne M. Dimler (Eric D.); his brothers, Wayne (Bette) of Whitehall and George, Jr. (Ann) of Willow Grove; his grandsons, Owen and Josh Dimler; and his nieces, Carrie and Erin Merkel.
