She was predeceased by : her parents, Catherine Trask and Harvey Trask; her brother Richard Trask; and her daughter Penelope Kreider. She is survived by : her husband James; her brother Robert; her sisters-in-law, Jane and Ann Trask; her son Brian Highhouse; her children-in-law, Paulette Buchholz and Chris Kreider; and her grandchildren-in-law, Cate and Nicole Kreider.

There she made major contributions to the training of other nurses and community members, especially in the realm of prevention education and case management for AIDs/HIV patients in a time when many would refuse to work with them.
