He is survived by: his wife Tamara Schmidt; his daughter Christine Schmidt; his grandchildren, Hailey Schmidt O'Brien and Jordan Tyler; his sister Margery James; and his brother-in-law Daniel McFarland (Erica). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the St Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
