He was predeceased by: his parents, Beattie Varner and Almeda Varner (Zinn); his wife Nancy Varner (Haffly); and his siblings, Charles, Richard, Russell, Rodney, Glenn, Floyd, David "Lee" Varner, Freda Ferguson and Dorothy Sheaffer.
He is survived by: his daughter Angela K. Varner (Herbert Cavanaugh Sr.) of Lewistown; his grandchildren, Patrick Swartz (Chelsea Brandt) of Shippensburg and Katlyn Clepper of Newville; his great grandchildren, Lola Swartz, Ahren Alvarez and Dylan Kelly; and his siblings, Robert Varner (Virginia) of Shippensburg, Fay Over of Shippensburg and Kenneth Varner (Joan) of Newville.
