He was predeceased by: his siblings, Ray, Jay, Harry Reed, Jessie Myers, Leone Lutz and Madeline Zeigler; and his grandson James Reed, Jr..
He is survived by: his former wives, Mildred "Bobbie" Reed (Cockrill) and Mary E. Reed (Miller) of Elmcroft; his children, James Reed (Mary) of Bellwood, Jodi Shimp (Roger) of Reedsville, John Reed, Jr. of Lewistown and Jeffery Reed (Tina) of Lewistown; his stepchildren, Lawna Foster (William) of Milroy, Judith Stonerook (Donald) of Lewistown, Traci Gaisior and Max of McVeytown; his grandchildren, Keith Cram, Julie Winters, Matt Cram, Jason Reed, Jill Reed and Ryan Reed; and his brother Robert Reed (Shirley) of Centre Hall. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
