He was predeceased by: his parents, Terry Burkey and Lena Catherine Burkey. He is survived by: his wife Janet M. Palm of Lewistown; his daughter Holly Burkey of Alexandria; his stepchildren, Tracy Palm (Beth) of Havre and Kimbra Fisher (Lisa Barneycastle) of Mechanicsburg; his grandchildren, Kristin Mills, Garth Wilson, Nathan Palm and Natalie Palm; and his siblings, Charles Burkey, Clyde Burkey (Frieda) of Petersburg, Tommy Burkey (Margaret) of Yeagertown, Donald Burkey (Georgette) of Lewistown, Jimmy Burkey (Leslie) of Suffolk, VA., Lucy Jean Showalter of Alexandria, Mary P. Burkey of Alexandria and Judy Gill of Alexandria. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
