He was predeceased by: his parent Mollie Ackerman of McKeesport. He is survived by: his parent Harry Ackerman of McKeesport; his wife Harriet; his daughters, Sheri Townsend (David Canfield) of Glenmont, Pamela Ackerman-Garcia (David) of Fanwood and Julie Safranko (Andrew) of Slingerlands; his brother Stuart (Jenny) of Cincinnati; his grandchildren, Shelby Asher (Kory), Alex Townsend, Mackenzie Townsend, Brandon Garcia, Joshua Garcia, Alexis Safranko and Chad Safranko; his great grandchild Emilia Asher; his siblings-in-law, Susan Volo and Al Volo; and his mother-in-law Shirley Cohen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Fred in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the American Heart Association or Congregation Beth Emeth.
