He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton Dewey and Elsie Mariann Forbes (Savonell); his former wife Sandra Forbes; and his siblings, Shirley Sherman, Dorothy Williams, Raymond and Darrell Forbes.
He is survived by: his wife Florence Forbes; his children, Jeanette Forbes Alfrey, Julia Forbes and James "Jamie" Forbes; and his stepchildren, Frances Knott, Sarah Burak, Carolyn Susan Gilbert Banas, Ralph "Buck" Weaver, Thomas Weaver and Richard Paul Gilbert II.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. John's Episcopal Church (101 S Prospect St, Hagerstown, MD 21740).
