He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Wheat and Fern Wheat; his siblings, Jack Wheat and Marilyn Brown; and his wife Patricia "Jo" Wheat.

He is survived by: his daughters, Teresa Wright (Jay) and Shelly Gilbertson (Alan); and his siblings, Glenda Tennyson and Leon Wheat. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
