He was predeceased by: his parents, George H. and Mary I. Merkel (Moyer); and his siblings, Patsy Dries and George H. Merkel, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Carol Merkel (Miller); his children, Cheryl (William Batdorf) of Myerstown, Cynthia (Rick Repman) of Dover and Ronald, Jr. (Brenda Merkel) of Lebanon; his grandchildren, Zachary, Amanda, Kaila, Brett, Megan, Chelsea and Zane; his great grandchildren, Parker, Ryan, Luke, Brayden, Avery and Maggie May; and his siblings, Peggy Miller of Newmanstown, Penny (Rick Behney) of South Carolina and Paul Merkel of Newmanstown.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Millcreek Lutheran Church (221 N Sheridan Rd, Newmanstown, PA 17073). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
