He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Edgar and Pearle Tennie Paine Cathey. He is survived by: his wife Alice Ewing Cathey of Murrysville; and his sister Ethelyn Pankratz (Loren) of Portland, Oregon.. He is also survived by several nieces, and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice in his name.
