He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Marie L. Penrose and James F. Penrose; his wife Ann Mecke Penrose; and his sister Penny Shannon. He was also cherished by his eight children.

Robert Litz Penrose Sr., 89, died peacefully under hospice care at Bryn Mawr Hospital on June 26, 2019, following a battle with Alzheimer's disease.
