He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Angel Dunbar and Robert Harvey Dunbar; his daughter Stephanie Ann Dunbar; his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Dunbar (Fucich); his sister Audrey McCarthy; and his close friend Teresa Verteramo.
He is survived by: his children, Joy "JD" Dunbar (Hank Faller) of State College, PA, Robert H. Dunbar of Melbourne Beach, FL and George Stephen Dunbar (Sandy) of Jeannette, PA.; his grandchildren, Stephanie Campbell, Erin Gismondi, John Robert Dunbar, Alex Joy Day and Samantha Dunbar; his great grandchildren, Avery, Everett Campbell, Luca Gismondi and Marcelline Dunbar; his sister Beverly Miller; and his caregiver Donna McGuire. He is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount St. Peter Catholic Church or, in honor of Sonny's lifelong love of birds, to the National Aviary in Pittsburgh.
