He was predeceased by: his parents, W. J. Bryan Fennell and Alma Ruth Gilchrist Fennell; his wife Donna Bordonaro Fennell; his son Richard Fennell, Jr.; his siblings, James, Vernon Fennell and Edwina Pearce; and his son-in-law Robert Bruce Young.

He is survived by: his children, Sue Young, Robert Fennell and Ronald Fennell.
