She was predeceased by: her parents, John E. Hartlaub and Freda M. Hartlaub (Thoman); and her brothers, Jeffrey and Dale Hartlaub. She is survived by: her husband Gary L. Smith; her pet Gracie; her siblings, Deb Harpster of Gettysburg, Susan Berwager (Steven) of Spring Grove, Pat Arentz (Terri Yealy) of East Berlin, Donna Cassatt (Kelly) of East Berlin, Ruth Collins (James) of Littlestown, Nancy Sentz (Dave) of Gettysburg, Diane Parrill (Tony) of Frankford, DE, David Hartlaub (Ann Harman) of New Oxford, John Hartlaub (Laurie) of Littlestown and Michael Hartlaub (Sherri) of New Oxford; her friend Judith Ciancio of Hanover; and her sister-in-law Beulah Hartlaub of McSherrystown. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
