She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Brauen and Myra Brauen (Doner); her husband William "Bill" Bates; and her brothers, James, Leonard, Ronald and Larry.
She is survived by: her son David Bates (Deborah) of Connecticut; her grandchildren, Ian, Luke Bates, Emily and Abigail Cook; and her sisters, Ruth Brauen of Mechanicsburg, PA and Carolyn Sue Yoder of Middleport, NY.
