He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank A Jr. Wheeler and Olive Wheeler; and his father-in-law David T. Hammer. He is survived by: his wife Suzanne; his sons, Dan (Marlene Wheeler) and Bryan Wheeler; his grandchildren, Ryan, Jonathan, Chase and Renee; his siblings, Virginia O'Brien (Jim), Wendy Thompson (Tom), Larry Wheeler (Pam) and Jane Dahlgren; his children, Jacklene Cupples and Chase; his mother-in-law Lynn Hammer; and his siblings-in-law, Sheryl Burke (Ron), Debbi Allen (Will) and Michael Hammer (Darlene). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made toward a memorial bench in his honor. Any funds in excess of the cost will be donated to Shriners Hospital for Children.
