On a picturesque fall day, the Rev. George Ayer Tigh went home to be with his Lord. Born on March 20, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the devoted husband of 60 years to his wife, Cheryl, beloved Dad to daughters Karen (son-in-law Curt Byler) and Cheri; Grandfather to the two biggest joys in his life, Satoria Ayer and David Sigmund (Zagorski). George was the fourth of six children (Mary, Ruth, Tave, Bea and Bob who are all still with us) born to their parents, George Clark Tigh and Helen (DeKonty) TIgh. George lived a life in service to others as a United Methodist minister for more than 40 years. He leaves behind a deep legacy of advocacy for the underprivileged and underrepresented, having been active in Civil Rights from the 70's until defying his own conference by officiating at a gay wedding in 2013. He sat on the board of Planned Parenthood of Bucks County in the 80's speaking up for women to have full body autonomy. He was well known for his insightful and thought provoking sermons as well as his wonderful sense of humor which often included witty one liners. On his day off, you'd most likely find him on the golf course. George savored a challenging episode of Jeopardy, could answer almost every question in Trivial Pursuit, loved his sweets, particularly chocolate cake, and a nice road trip. A memorial visitation for George will take place on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Lutheran Church of God's Love, 791 Newtown Yardley Rd, Newtown, PA 18940. A prayer service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the church.
