He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hilton Sr. and Mabel Hilton; and his brother James Hilton. He is survived by: his wife Sherry Glasczko Hilton; his children, Jonathan Petruska (Noelle) and Megan Gibala (Ken); his sisters-in-law, Carole Hilton, Sandy Comiskey (Jim) and Carrie Lucotch (Mike); his grandchildren, Sydney, Alivia and Jaycob Gibala; his sibling's children, Caitlin, Cori and Michael; and his grandpuppy Maverik.
