He was predeceased by: his parent Curtis Smith; and his brother Thomas. He is survived by: his parent Helen Smith (Rosky); his wife Barbara Smith (King); his daughters, Anita Moran (Joseph) of Pittsburgh and Christine Smith of Louisville, KY; his siblings, Florence Lee of Greensburg and Eugene Smith (Patricia) of Ligonier; and his sisters-in-law, Carol Etzel (Jack) of Pittsburgh and Judith Kostelnik (Richard) of Greensburg.
