He was predeceased by : his parents, Russell McConnell and Clara McConnell (Rhoa); and his siblings, Leo, Ken, Ralph, Russell, Dorothy, Betty and Freda.

He is survived by : his wife Patricia McConnell (Hula); his children, Herman McConnell Jr. (Amy) and Teresa Thomas (Chris); and his siblings, Clyde McConnell of New Alexandria and Jean Jolly of New Alexandria. He is also survived by five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
