He was predeceased by: his wife Judith Walter Schooley. He is survived by: his daughter-in-law Fawn Schooley; his grandsons, Dylan R. Schooley (Sydney Dydiw) and William J. Schooley IV; and his daughter Delaney M. Schooley.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
