He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John P. Dettl and Carol N. Dettl (Snyder); his wife Karen Lynne (Burns); his daughters, Emily Gorka (Bob), Kate Hardy (Steven) and Martha Dettl-Rivera (Kyle); his siblings, Mark Dettl, Joel Dettl, Jim Dettl and Jann Dettl-Ahlberg; and his grandchildren, Jackson Young, Christian Gorka, Ava and Anne Hardy.
