He was predeceased by: his wife Marie P.; and his son William O'Brien. He is survived by: his siblings, Jack (Jewell), Bernie (late Doris), Mary Ryan, Betty Hall (late Wendell), Rosemarie Choicay (Jerry), Peggy Astillero (Ambrocio), Nancy Hasson, Kathleen Scott (Tom) and Helen Darragh (Mike); his brother-in-law Tom Hasson; and his children, Jay O'Brien (Sandy) and Maureen Pomrink (Tom).

In lieu of flowers family prefers donations to St. Jude Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 in his memory.
